Our cabbages are grown primarily for the local market. The pivot overhead irrigation system and water availability enables us to grow and supply cabbages all-year-round. To do this, we plant at least 2 hectares per week.
Each hectare under cabbages has 40,000 seedlings with the aim of producing about 35,000 heads of cabbages for harvest per hectare. Cabbages from West Rift Feeds and Foods Ltd have an average weight of 3.5 kGs. The farm currently has 26 hectares under this crop with our production averaging 60,000 cabbages per week.
